Nidec Minster Corporation has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Machine Shop Supervisor whose primary function will be to maintain a safe work environment, provide leadership, and achieve company goals and objectives. This will require organizational and multitasking abilities and coping skills to work in a fast paced environment. Knowledge of machining in a job shop or ETO environment is desired. 2nd shift opening

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing all people and processes in Minster's second or third shift OEM Machine Shop.
  • Owning and driving all key Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Engagement metrics in the area for the shift.
  • Communicating and interacting with all personnel levels within the Minster Machine Company, as well as the machine shop's varied internal customers.
  • Provide working knowledge of equipment used in a typical job shop machining environment including blue prints, metrology methods, and setup procedures
  • Provide initial troubleshooting of process or equipment issues and ensure appropriate resources are allocated with prompt escalation as needed.
  • Ensure labor and material costs are utilized in the most effective/efficient manner possible.
  • Direct work and set priorities across multiple areas
  • Drive a Continuous Improvement culture throughout his or her areas of influence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • 3 - 5 years supervisory experience working with skilled craftsmen and semi-skilled staff.
  • Knowledge and experience supervising machinists in a job shop environment is desirable.
  • Good communication, speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Must be able to multitask in an environment where priorities are fluid.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a technical discipline preferred
  • Knowledge and experience supervising the use of CNC and manual mills, lathes, drills is desirable.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) experience or training preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement/ Lean experience including 6S preferred.
