Manager Training and Development

Nidec Press & Automation/Minster is currently seeking a Manager, Training and Development to join our team. Reporting to the Global Director, Human Resources, the Manager, Training and Development will manage the effective implementation of training events and special projects throughout our organization. This experienced leader will oversee, design, develop, coordinate, and run both large and small scale training programs for hourly and salaried team members.


  • Design, develop and implement effective processes for skills training, including technical/task training for many key hourly roles, development of leadership and teaming skills, and HR/compliance training
  • Select the ideal training methods or activities for a particular purpose and audience - online, video enhanced, virtual reality enabled, role playing, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes, etc.
  • Market and promote training opportunities to employees in a compelling way that provides all necessary information regarding career path benefits and attractive communications methods
  • Conduct regular, whole-organization needs assessments, identifying skills or knowledge gaps that need addressing
  • Utilize training best practices and education principles
  • Analyze and incorporate new training methods and techniques
  • Develop and prepare educational/training aids and materials, as needed
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training courses and provide summary reports to management, determining impact of training on employee skills and corporate goals
  • Collaborate with and connect internal stakeholders and liaise with various experts regarding instruction and training planning
  • Maintain a database of curriculum, materials, and training records
  • Organize and conduct train-the-trainer sessions for in-house experts/trainers
  • Oversee and maintain in-house training facilities and necessary training equipment

Required Skills

  • BS degree in training, education or other related field
  • Training related certifications a plus, such as ATD
  • Significant work experience as a trainer, coach, or training manager, preferably in a small to medium sized manufacturing environment characterized by hands on/entrepreneurial environment
  • Knowledge and successful implementation of instructional design theory
  • Familiar with both traditional and modern job training methods, trends and techniques
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency; familiarity with web delivery tools
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments
