Manager, Environment, Health and Safety

Nidec Minster is seeking a Manager, Environment, Health, and Safety, reporting to the Director of Human Resources. The Manager, Safety, Health and Environment will be responsible for overseeing organizational compliance with local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations, Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times, keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization, and provides daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (preferably in environmental health and safety)
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and a minimum of 5 years' of experience implementing/maintaining an Environmental, Health and Safety program is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to work in compliance with local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and must be able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization and externally with regulatory agencies and local response organizations.
  • Able to solve a variety of complex problems in the absence of technical guidelines or precedents. Work involves analysis and requires judgment. Plans programs and projects or resolves management problems. Numerous decisions are involved, and the choices of action are many.
  • Experience in delivering training presentations.
  • Manage, through other supervisors, work assignments and performance for employees in several work units.
  • Proficient user in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook 


  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the occupational safety and health program. Formulate written policy and program guidance. Communicate with and/or train employees to the extent appropriate to achieve understanding and compliance.
  • Develop & manage the environmental compliance program to insure adherence to EPA guidelines. Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal, storm water discharge, industrial hygiene, permitting, emergency response and site remediation, and SARA Title III reporting with members of the manufacturing staff.
  • Serve as internal consultant and project manager for a wide range of Human Resources issues such as safety, environmental, health, employee recognition, legal issues, security, training, and others as assigned by the Director.
  • Serve as a safety and environmental representative to a variety of national and international trade associates, for example, The Association of Manufacturing Technology & Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International.
  • Overall management of transitional work program, new procedures, quarterly meetings, and individual employee plan coordination.
